About the School

St. George's College, Quilmes, is one of Latin America's most prestigious boarding schools, founded in 1898 by the British community south of Buenos Aires. For over 125 years the college has provided a rigorous bilingual education combining the traditions of a British-style boarding school with a deep engagement with Argentine culture, language, and national identity. It is widely regarded as the finest co-educational boarding school in Argentina. The school educates approximately 870 students aged 3 to 18 across its 45-acre grounds in Quilmes, in the southern suburbs of Buenos Aires, approximately 45 minutes from Ezeiza International Airport. The campus — with its playing fields, boarding houses, academic buildings, and extensive green spaces — provides a spacious and well-resourced environment that is exceptional by the standards of any school in the region. St. George's draws students from Argentina's most prominent families in business, agriculture, and public life, as well as from the diplomatic and expatriate communities based in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area. Its alumni network spans Argentine public life and the professions across multiple generations, and the college's reputation for producing bilingual graduates of integrity and capability is firmly established throughout Latin America.

Academics

Academic Excellence

St. George's College offers a bilingual English and Spanish education that combines the Argentine national curriculum with internationally recognised qualifications. In the secondary school, students pursue the Argentine curriculum alongside the IGCSE pathway, sitting a minimum of six IGCSE examinations that prepare them for the IB Diploma Programme in the sixth form. This combination ensures that graduates hold both the Argentine Bachiller and internationally recognised qualifications accepted by leading universities in the United Kingdom, the United States, Europe, and South America. The school offers three boarding options — full boarding, weekly boarding, and flexi-boarding — providing flexibility for families with different circumstances and needs. Full boarders live on campus throughout the term, building the closest residential bonds; weekly boarders return home at weekends; and flexi-boarding is available for students whose family circumstances require occasional residential provision. Each boarding house is overseen by experienced residential staff providing consistent pastoral care. Technology education is integrated throughout the curriculum, with programming forming a compulsory element in the junior secondary years.

Beyond the Classroom

Rich Campus Life

St. George's College has a distinguished tradition in sport, particularly in rugby, football, tennis, swimming, athletics, and polo — a sport that reflects the college's deep connections to Argentina's equestrian culture. The school's 45-acre grounds provide ample space for competitive sport and outdoor activity. Drama productions, music ensembles, and cultural events are prominent in the school calendar, celebrating both British and Argentine artistic traditions. Cookery, carpentry, yoga, golf, karate, and a wide range of clubs and social activities ensure that students have abundant opportunities to develop skills and interests beyond the academic timetable. The school's bilingual community life is itself a co-curricular asset of extraordinary value.
