Academic Excellence

The university delivers more than 200 programs up to PhD level across 8 different faculties and around 160 institutes. The Medical Faculty is a collaborative of the University of Bern, University Psychiatric Services UPD and Insel Hospital and is one of the largest in Switzerland with more than 2,000 students. Notably, The Physics and Astronomy Institute of the Science Faculty contributed to the first flight to the moon and still works closely with NASA and ESA regularly. The University of Bern has also established various interdisciplinary centres of excellence for students that opt to pursue research and teasing using an interdisciplinary approach.
